If you’re a member of the Coast Guard or the Navy, then boats might mean something else to you. They could signify search and rescue, protection, defense, and taking pride in your country. There are also check designs that contain images of Navy ships and Coast Guard boats. These are great if you belong yourself, or if you have a loved one serving.

From scenes of boats floating on tropical oceans, to images of sleek boats speeding fearlessly through brutal water, you can almost certainly discover something that will call to you and your interests. The good news is that when you buy your checks online, you will have a large assortment of boat inspired checks to select from.

At one time, you might have found the check designs at your local bank to be restrictive. You might have gone for a plain, boring design because you couldn’t locate anything that you really liked. You might have even chosen a design that you didn’t really care for because you couldn’t find one any better. You don’t have to do that anymore.

Nowadays, when you buy your checks from a protected website you will not only have a large variety of check designs to select from, but you will also save as much as 50% off the price of your checks. You won’t have any problem locating the checks that have the images of boats that you find irresistible.

You can also frequently find coordinating accessories to go with your new checks, as well. For example, you might be interested in getting a coordinating leather checkbook cover or corresponding address labels and contact cards in addition to your checks.

When you buy your checks online, make sure that you have your checking account number and your routing number on hand. These will be printed right onto your checks in order to use them. You can usually expect to get them in the mail in around 5 days. This is probably faster than your bank got them to you before!

Before you order boat checks, go to BoatChecks.net to get coupons and to save up to 50% off your next purchase of boat personal checks.

Useful Information For Boating Trips

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Boating is a great way to relax up at the cottage during the summer. When you have a boat, it increases all the potential of your summer activities. You can fish and do water sports or just drive around the lake and take a fun and relaxing ride. While boating is a great fun hobby, people often forget that it requires a responsible attitude. It is as big of a responsibility as driving and sometimes people take advantage of the fact that lakes are not monitored as heavily by police as roads are.

Not just anyone can drive a boat. You need to obtain your license and permit. A boat is a large machine that can cause major damage or injuries if it is not used by a trained or responsible individual.

Before going on any boating or fishing trip, start by checking provincial laws about boat licensing. You may find that you will need to take a course or a test. Don’t look at these things as a hassle. By taking a boating course, you can truly get the most out of your own boat. You will learn how to maintain its upkeep which will essentially increase its lifespan. You will also learn to do basic repairs yourself, which means you can save major money down the line that would otherwise go towards a professional. You should want to know the ins and outs of any major investment you make, so a boat course is the best way to learn everything you will want to know about your machine.

Before going out on your boating trip, make sure you are aware of all the rules and regulations in your province. It is important that you understand the rules regarding operating your boat under the influence of alcohol, what the speed limits are, how many people can be in your boat at the same time and all the information pertaining to your insurance. You may even need to get a PCOC license depending on whether you are transporting the public. Also, there are certain laws regarding what kind of water activities you can do with your boat, as well as laws about fishing. People rarely take the time to get their fishing permits, and are later surprised when they have to pay a large fine. It is definitely worth taking the time to know everything involved before you go out on your boating trip. Don’t forget to learn the speeding limits in certain areas of your lake. Again, nothing will ruin a great day of summer fun like a run in with the water patrol.

Beyond taking a boating course and getting your boating license or permit, boat trips are the best way to enjoy any weekend. Take your friends out and explore your lake, become familiar with the territory so you will never be stuck or lost. Also, always make sure you have enough gas to get you home.

Practice safety with your water sports by going at decent speeds and wearing the proper equipment. To avoid injuries, wear water helmets and life jackets. Most of all, have fun with your boat. Summer is the best season of the year for water lovers!

All That You Need To Know About The Pleasure Craft Operator Card

Monday, June 14th, 2010

In Canada, The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations requires that anyone operating a power-driven recreational watercraft must have proof of competency. It works much like a driver’s license where one is required to have a license to legally drive a motor vehicle. The Pleasure Craft Operator Card is one essential proof of competency mandated by The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations.

The Federal Government’s Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations applies to all watercraft equipped with motors that are used only for recreational purposes. A boating license is issued to boaters who have completed a Transport Canada accredited test offered by an approved private organization. You are required to have Proof of Competency if the boat is less than 4 m in length and you are born after April 1, 1983. Canadians who have taken a boating safety course prior to April 1, 1999 are not mandated to take another course or test, but they must keep a copy of the certificate or card that was issued prior to that time on board the watercraft at all times. The boating license is good for life and cannot be transferred to another person.

The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations applies to non-Canadian residents if they operate a motor driven watercraft for more than 44 consecutive days. As well, the regulations apply if they operate a recreational motorized watercraft that is registered or licensed in Canada.

All boating licenses are issued by private organizations. To obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card people will have to pass a Transport Canada accredited exam. The purpose of the exam is to educate boaters about boating safety and boating regulations, prepare for the test required to get a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, and learn how to be a responsible boater. The course covers wide range of educational information such as: the Canada’s Buoy system, type of safety equipment needed, proper waterway sharing, understanding all important watercraft rules, and what to do in a watercraft emergency.

People can take the test without having to take a boating safety course. However, taking a boating course is strongly recommended. You can take the course in a classroom, by correspondence, on the internet, or buy a training manual from an accredited private training organization and study, and then take the test. There are a number of private organizations that provide the course and accredited exam. If you do not pass the exam the first time, you can retake it, usually at no extra cost. A test can only be taken once in a 24-hour period. Fees are paid to the private organization, and not the government. The operator card cannot be revoked and is good for life.

Every summer, Canadians take to the water to enjoy their boats. When preparing to take your boat, it is important to remember that you re required to follow specific rules and regulations. To avoid any problems or fines, it is essential to obtain a boating license BC. It will give you peace of mind knowing you are complying with the law.

I Want To Drive A Motor Boat In Canada, What Are The Formalities?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

For many Canadians, driving motor powered watercrafts is a popular recreational activity. Powered watercraft means any personal watercraft, recreational boat, sailing watercraft, motor boat, or any other watercraft that is equipped with a motor. In Canada, all operators of powered watercrafts that are used for recreational purposes are mandated to have a Pboating license.

Often referred to as a boating license, the Pleasure Craft Operator Card is essentially a ‘Competency Card.’ It is proof that a motor boat owner is competent to operate the boat safely. There are no exemptions with acquiring the Pleasure Craft Operator Card regarding age, engine size, or the size of boat. Motor boat operators are required by law to keep their proof of age and their boating license with them when they are on the boat. The penalty for driving a powered watercraft without a Pleasure Craft Operator Card is $250.00 plus provincial administrative charges. Enforcement of this law is the responsibility of peace officers such as the RCMP and Conservation Officers.

People can get their Pleasure Craft Operator Card by taking and successfully passing a 36 multiple choice exam. There are private organizations that provide classes to help people prepare for the exam as well as administer the exam. To pass the test, applicants must get a score of at least 75%. Once they pass the test, they will receive their own nontransferable Pleasure Craft Operator Card which is good for life. Non-Canadian residents must have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card if they operate a motor boat for more than 45 consecutive days. As well, their state or country boating license equivalent may be considered as proof of competency.

There are a number of ways to prepare for the Pleasure Craft Operator Card exam. They include: obtaining Home Study Guide, Home Study Guide CD-ROM, taking an Online Safe Boating Course, or taking a Classroom Course. Each method is recognized and approved by Transport Canada. The courses include: rules and regulations regarding boating in Canada, equipping a watercraft properly, safe boat operation including passenger safety, understanding navigational equipment, maintaining the watercraft and its equipment properly and safely, how to respond properly in a boating emergency, and responding to distress calls.

To take the Pleasure Craft Operator Card exam, people will have to pay a fee of $49.95 plus GST The cost includes a Temporary Operator Card Slip given immediately upon passing the exam. The permanent non transferable card will be sent to the recipient’s home a few weeks after passing the exam. You can take the official Transport Canada accredited exam on the private organization’s website. There are also exams held at certified affiliate locations across Canada.

What Do You Know About The Biggest Boats Ever?

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

You might believe that the biggest boats ever built are those that provide us with super vacations on the high seas. Cruise ships have been publicly competing for the top slot, but they do not take home the medal for largest vessels. In their class, they have the highest rank, but if you’re comparing all ships they actually fall somewhere in the middle of the pack. The supertankers are the reigning champion of large vessel building. As a commercial vessel, supertankers have historically been the modern marvels of the seas.

There are still quite a few supertankers in service, although the largest one built to date has been scrapped. At 1504 feet or 458.5 meters, the Knock Nevis was considered the largest functional ship to ever be built. Naturally, over the years many shipbuilders have considered that tankers of such size might not be as financially viable as tankers that are smaller, built with more safety features, and require less fuel to propel.

In the passenger ship class, one of the biggest boats ever to be designed is nearly ready for her first splash into the water. Royal Caribbean has built a new impressive model that is 1181 feet, which is 360 meters long. She is jam packed with activities, venues, entertainment, and all the trimmings of a big city.

You can read one more article here: Choosing saltwater fishing tackle

Recreationally, privately owning a mega yacht (which is a recreational vessel of 250 feet or more in length) presents interesting challenges. Rarely do designers and builders take on mega yacht projects involving sailboats. The hull design is a lot trickier for a larger vessel, and therefore the mega yachts are generally powered by engines alone. The largest sailboat to date is the 289 foot fully functional and technologically enhanced yacht known as the Maltese Falcon.

The great challenge of building super large vessels isn’t just about making it bigger than the last one. There is a race to develop the most impressive technology that compliments the massive size of these vessels. Push button technology has allowed for larger and more powerful vessels to be built. With this technology, what happens to the human skills required to fully understand the vessel and keep her under control?

Critics worry that the pure size of the largest vessels would make them especially dangerous should the technology that keeps them on course and functional were to suddenly fail. Others counter this idea with fact that the large ships of all kinds that are built today are stronger, more stable, and are purposefully designed to be able to respond to potential situations. The risks are believed to be fewer in the newer larger vessels than those of the past.

Each ship has been built with all kinds of potential dangers in mind. Each ship is put through a serious of tests through computer models to see where the design weaknesses might be. Because of this, the ships that enter the water today might be so large they’re intimidating, they are also built to a higher standard than the older ships that have less displacement. The industry is filled with all kinds of opinions, but it is clear that the majority believe these new, bigger ships are amazing creations and wonders.

The operators are fully trained to deal with such circumstances. It could be said that the biggest cruises ever built today are actually safer because they are built with environmental concerns and potential hazards as a leading factor. This means that the technology, the materials, and the plans are all melted together to make them as safe and friendly as possible while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

The Benefits of Used Inflatable Boats Compared To Conventional Watercraft

Monday, April 26th, 2010

If you first look at it, you might question if used inflatable boats are as safe as a normal hard-shell watercraft. The truth is inflatable boats are just as secure as traditional watercraft, and in some instances they may even be safer.

Used inflatable boats tend to be more buoyant than traditional watercraft mainly due to the inflatable collar or tubes. The inflatable sections help to distribute the buoyancy out across the whole vessel, which makes it more unlikely to sink. Furthermore, the collars or tubes on an inflatable boat usually are made with individual chambers. That means if an individual chamber gets deflated, the overall buoyancy will not be noticeably affected.

One sign that inflatable boats are secure is that they are preferred by the coast guard as ocean going rescue vessels. The likely reason why the coast guard have a preference for these types of watercraft is because they are almost impossible to capsize and handle far better in rough water. Several air chambers assure buoyancy even if one chamber looses air pressure due to any leak.

Find another article here: Fishing using electroincs

The structure with inflatable watercraft also make sure they are a more stable watercraft. Unlike traditional watercraft, a used inflatable boat sits flat on the water and it has a low center of gravity. That makes them almost impossible for you to tip over. They can also handle bad water far better, and people standing up inside the boat aren’t going to cause the boat to capsize. Divers as well as swimmers can use the sides to pull themselves up with out causing your boat to rock or flip.

When using an inflatable boat, you should always bring with you a foot pump along with a repair kit. Even though watercraft with independent inflatable chambers could function with one chamber deflated, there might be occasions when you might have to patch a puncture as well as re-inflate the boat at some time. You will have to have the essential equipment to produce small repairs. You should also be familiar with how to make minor repairs when they’re required.

As a result of advanced technologies in the last two decades, inflatable watercraft have become a very viable option for various types of boating demands. Many of these watercraft include comprehensive warranties as well as product guarantees. Also, taking most of these watercraft to the water is easy as they quite simply inflate and deflate quickly and can be effortlessly stored in the trunk area of a vehicle.

There is another area that is more likely to be safer whenever you buy an inflatable watercraft, that’s your pocket book. Inflatable boats tend to be significantly cheaper when compared with traditional watercraft, therefore you are usually a lot less likely to exceed your budget when searching for an inflatable watercraft.
